Lightning Protection System (LPS)

Risk assessment, design, supply, installation & certification of complete LPS — compliant with IEC 62305 and BNBC, safeguarding people, equipment, and structures.

End-to-End Lightning Protection, Done Right

AAEL engineers evaluate your facility’s strike probability, exposure and earthing conditions to recommend the correct LPS class, surge protection, and bonding strategy. Our turnkey scope covers design, materials, installation, testing, and documentation for industrial, commercial, and high-rise projects across Bangladesh.

What Sets Our LPS Apart

IEC 62305 Driven

Formal risk assessment, class selection (I–IV), zone concept (LPZ), and detailed drawings as per international best practice.

Robust Earthing

Grid/mesh or ring earth with proper separation distances, soil treatment, and equipotential bonding to keep touch/step voltages safe.

Surge Protection (SPD)

Type 1/2/3 SPD coordination at service entrance, distribution boards and sensitive equipment, referencing IEC/IEEE guidance.

System Components We Provide

  • Air terminals (rods, mesh, catenary wire)
  • Down conductors & test links
  • Earth electrodes (copper rod/plate/strip, chemical earth)
  • Bonding clamps & connectors
  • Surge Protective Devices (Type 1/2/3)
  • Inspection pits, test clamps & labeling
Materials are selected for corrosion resistance and fault current capacity, with test certificates where applicable.

Our Turnkey Scope

  • IEC 62305 risk assessment & LPS class selection
  • Detailed drawings (plan, elevation, earthing grid, SLD for SPD)
  • Supply & installation with QA/QC and HSE controls
  • Earth resistance testing & documentation
  • SPD installation & coordination report
  • Certification & as-built handover package

Frequently Asked Questions

We perform an IEC 62305 risk assessment considering building usage, height, strike density (Ng), and occupancy. The result determines the minimum protection level and air-termination/down-conductor density.
We design for the lowest practical resistance based on soil conditions and grid geometry. For LPS electrodes, < 10 Ω is typical; for sensitive sites we pursue lower values with parallel electrodes and soil enhancement.
Yes. We coordinate Type 1 at service entrance, Type 2 at distribution boards, and Type 3 at point-of-use to protect against transient over-voltages induced by lightning.
